Welcome to Mexico City!

Click here to view my Google Map of the best places to eat, drink, and see in this beautiful city!

Restaurants

Expensive:

  • Pujol

  • Quintonil

** You don’t need to do both but definitely do one. Need to book far in advance! We went to Quintonil and loved it, but both are ranked in the top 10 restaurants in the world. Also, “Expensive” for Mexico City is not expensive for the United States (~$100/person)

Mid-Priced:

  • Contramar: fresh seafood

  • Rosetta

  • Maximot Bistrot

  • La Docena

Other:

  • Churreria del Moro: best churros ever

Bars

  • Limantour: top 10 bars in the world

  • Hanky Panky: super swanky speakeasy; need a reservation

  • Condesa DF Rooftop: rooftop bar of a hotel

  • La Clandestine: good for mezcal tasting

To do/Places to see

  • Museo Frida Kahlo: Frida Kahlo’s childhood and adult home with Diego Rivera; this was my favorite museum; buy tickets in advance

  • Museo Nacional de Antropologica: you could spend a whole day here and not see everything; favorite exhibits were Mexica, Oaxaca, and Maya

  • Palacio de Bellas Artes: Diego Rivera murals and temporary art exhibits; it’s a gorgeous building inside and out

  • Mezcal tasting

  • Taco tasting

Tips

  • Stay in the Condesa or Roma neighborhoods. They are super safe and very walkable. We had no issues getting around at night and most of the bars/restaurants are around here.

  • The city is super walkable! We walked almost everywhere. There are also tons of electric scooters and city bikes to rent.

  • Uber is the best option for longer trips around the city. Fast and reliable.

  • Traffic is very unpredictable.

  • Centro Historico is a little unsafe at night.

  • Breakfast is served around 8-10am, Lunch is served around 2-4pm, and Dinner is served around 8-9pm
